Now that both these mid-size SUVs have been unveiled, it is only natural to stack these two up against one another, since they both will compete in the same segment. We understand that these two products are essentially the same under the hood, but there are still some relevant differences in the way they are designed on the outside as well as on the inside. These two brands have made sure that the elements of their DNA are reflected in each of these products. I-PACE - THE ALL ELECTRIC KING

Jaguar Land Rover India has announced plans to introduce electrified products to its line-up. The carmaker will offer multiple electrified models, ranging from hybrid vehicles to battery electric vehicles, starting from the end of 2019. Keeping in line with the brand's global plan to introduce electrified versions of its entire product portfolio by 2020, JLR India will introduce its first hybrid vehicle in India from the Land Rover brand by the end of 2019. Though not yet confirmed, the first hybrid model from Land Rover in India could be the second-gen Range Rover Evoque. All Evoques get a belt-driven integrated starter-generator that collects energy as the car decelerates, storing it in a battery before deploying it when the car starts or accelerates. The system adds up to 6 percent to efficiency, says Land Rover. Hybrid versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport could also be on the cards. Come late 2020, Jaguar will bring its all electric i-Pace SUV to India....

THE LEGENDARY FORTUNER ARRIVED.

Leader of the segment, The 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs. 29.98 lakh for the base petrol variant and going all the way up to Rs. 37.43 lakh for the range-topping four-wheel drive (4WD) diesel automatic variant. This time around, the Fortuner range also sees an addition of a sportier Legender variant that's been priced at Rs. 37.58 lakh, (all prices ex showroom, Delhi). The Toyota Fortuner has received a mid-life update after a long span of four years and has been updated with new looks, more features and better performance. Starting with its looks first, it gets revamped front end featuring a larger grille, sleek-looking LED projector headlights with LED DRLs, sharper character lines, revamped front bumper with larger curtains, slightly smaller fog lamps and silver skid plate among others. ALTROZ - THE TASTY TURBO

Tata Motors is all set to launch the turbocharged iteration of the Altroz premium hatchback next week. The official prices of the car will be announced on January 13, 2021. Last week, the home grown had teased the Altroz turbo petrol on its official social media account confirming the development. Ahead of its official debut, the turbo petrol variant has been spotted yet again donning the new Marina Blue colour. The Indian carmaker is likely to offer this variant on the mid and top-spec trims. The car was recently captured on camera during a television commercial shoot just before its launch. The new spy shot suggests that the hatchback will be very similar to the regular version, which is priced from Rs. 5.44 lakh (ex-showroom). However, we can expect minor updates on the exterior front to differentiate the variant. Previous spy images suggest that the car could get a turbo badging at the rear. And, the new blue paint scheme could be specific for the turbocharged version. ...

CARS SALES REPORT - DEC 2020

The December sales was as usual increased comparing to the other months because of the year end offers Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) garnered a total of 1,40,754 units in the final month of 2020 as against 1,22,784 units during the same period last year with Year-on-Year sales growth of 15 per cent. Compared to the previous month, the Indo-Japanese manufacturer endured 4 per cent volume increase. Behind MSIL in second position was Hyundai. Most of the top flight automakers posted YoY sales growth in December 2020 as they ended the calendar year on high. The South Korean brand posted 47,400 units last month as against 37,953 units in December 2019 with 25 per cent positive sales growth and held on to 17.1 per cent market share. The third-placed Tata Motors had another impressive outing with a massive 84 per cent increase in volumes. It recorded 23,546 units as against 12,785 units during the corresponding month in 2019.
